How to make an employment law claim
Our employment department is based in Edinburgh and is headed by our managing partner, Gordon Bathgate, who has extensive experience and expertise in this area, having represented clients in the employment tribunal for more than 20 years.
As costs are rarely recoverable in the employment tribunal, it can be an expensive process to proceed with litigation. In many cases, we are able to offer individuals advice and representation on a legal aid basis. While civil legal aid is not available for representation in the employment tribunal, some cases may attract funding under the Scottish Legal Aid Board’s ‘advice by way of representation’ scheme (ABWOR). If financially eligible, we can also offer advice to clients under the ‘advice and assistance’ legal aid scheme.
