Guardianship and intervention orders

It may be that a family member or friend is no longer able to make decisions or give instructions regarding their finances or welfare as a result of mental or other incapacity.

In these circumstances it may be necessary to apply to court to have someone appointed to safeguard the individual’s financial affairs or make decisions regarding their welfare. This may be required to carry out a one off transaction, such as selling a house to pay for nursing home fees or to deal with the needs of the individual on a long term basis.

We can offer focussed advice regarding the often complicated procedures involved in this area and can attend to the necessary legal formalities and application to court.
